Where Three Stories Become One Journey!
Braddock’s Battlefield History Center, Carnegie One Braddock, and the Rivers of Steel Pump House come together for one historic day of family-filled activities to commemorate the July 9, 1755, anniversary of the Battle of the Monongahela!
One ticket provides visitors with access to all three sites’ activities. Attendees may begin at the cultural attraction of their choice!
Braddock’s Battlefield History Center

The history center, found on the very ground where the battle occurred comes to life with the dramatic story of the July 9, 1775 Battle of the Monongahela, also known as “Braddock’s Defeat.” Considered one of the most momentous chapters of the French and Indian War (1754–1763), the Battle set into motion events that shaped world history, led to the founding of Pittsburgh, and the birth of our nation.
Visitors can meet the BBHC’s official General Edward Braddock portrayed by Robert Fryman and hear the story of Braddock’s ill-fated campaign. Learn how our nation’s first commander-in-chief George Washington served as Braddock’s aide-de-camp, then enjoy black powder demonstrations, living history interpreters, blacksmithing demonstrations on a Traveling Forge, and touring the museum.
Carnegie One Braddock

As the first Carnegie library established in the United States in 1889, the literary institution stands as a testament to Andrew Carnegie’s vision of providing access to knowledge and resources for all. The library – the heart of the community – recently completed a multi-million-dollar renovation and transformation offering preschoolers to seniors a wide range of programs, workshops, and events.
Adults and youth will grab a paint brush and create their own masterpiece ceramic tiles to be included in an art installation. Attendees will also help make wind chimes from recycled objects that will be displayed at Carnegie One and throughout the library. After your craftsmanship, don’t miss taking a tour of stunningly renovated National Historic Landmark.
Rivers of Steel Pump House
880 E. Waterfront Drive, Munhall, PA 15120
As part of the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, the Pump House helps preserve and interpret the industrial and cultural legacy of southwestern Pennsylvania, alongside other historic sites like the Bost Building and Carrie Blast Furnace. It provides educational programs, public art experiences, and recreational access, linking the region’s steel-making history to contemporary community engagement.
This part of your multi-site ticket includes a tour of The Pump House, which was constructed in 1892 by the Carnegie Steel Company as part of the Homestead Steel Works’ water system. It became a pivotal site during the Battle of Homestead, marking a defining moment in U.S. labor history. Today, The Pump House is also a popular stop for Great Allegheny Passage trail users.
